LG Optimus Chic
At a July conference, LG revealed a new line of phones by the name of Optimus that are designed to provide consumers with a wider selection of Android phones to cater specifically to their needs. In an attempt to gain a foothold in the Android market, LG is focusing their efforts on creating devices to fill niches that might be overlooked by competitors more interested in creating a single high-end device. On the internet you can find some great LG Optimus contracts from among the many phone deals on offer. While the Optimus GT540 is the only Optimus device available currently, with the other devices in the series such as the Optimus Chic slated to follow in early Q4.
The Optimus Chic is a slightly lesser version of the flagship Optimus One, with hardware and features that are more suited to a device in the mid-level price range, though LG has kept the public in the dark concerning the the specs and the price. LG has already confirmed that the Optimus Chic will ship with the 2.2 version of Android on release, making it one of the few devices available with the popular Froyo operating system without a FOTA update, providing a number of extra features right out of the box. Research by LG into consumer motivations behind smartphone purchases show that consumers are looking for mobile devices that have quick and easy access to information, and to ensure that they are providing mobile devices that are enticing to consumers and fit their needs, LG has taken a very specific design approach. Including hardware and software, as well as a custom UI that makes accessing information easier, LG is hoping to fill in the niches in the market. Unfortunately, there isn’t much information available about the specific hardware and features of the Optimus Chic, but recently a few prototypes have made an appearance; in its current configuration, the Optimus Chic features a 3.2” display and a 5 megapixel camera, along with a mid-range Qualcomm processor to power all of the Chic’s features. Rumours about the release date of the Optimus Chic currently place the release date sometime in late September or early October, with the Chic making its appearance in the European market as well as LG’s native Korea, with other markets expected to follow.
